I haven't forgotten about my blog.
I haven't been blogging, but I've still been working. I think my series is up to 8 canvases in their various sizes and levels of completion. I figure I'd post some teaser shots since I took away the comments section of my blog anyway. Also, I really, really like St. Louis artist, Corey Escoto. Here is an awesome, and short interview with him. I can definitely relate to his situation of making art in your kitchen.

The truth about hope.
There is a really great interview with John Currin in (duh, where else?) Interview Magazine this month. I didn't know his wife was a sculptor, but Glenn O'Brien talked to her too. The story of how they met is pretty awesome. In other art news, if you're not going to see the Francis Bacon show at the Met and you still want to be a painter, you should probably just quit right now. I hate to use the word genius, but there are some phenomenal things happening in his work.

Illustration trends.
I've noticed lately that a bunch of illustrators are on twitter. It seems like a good way to avoid being alone while being alone working on art. Some sort of abstract audience. Maybe I'll try it. Maybe.
I helped my uncle clean out his garage last Sunday and I got a few records. A record collection is not something my bank account needs right now, but vinyl is an amazing medium for both music and illustration. Below is a Lou Reed album from 1978 which proves that black line art and flat coloring has been a staple in illustration before photoshop existed.

I hope airbrush comes back soon.
